William Vernon Bowers was born on April 29, 1884, and married Lelia Nora Hicks on December 8, 1909. He remained a member of Zion Baptist Church until he died in 1975, but often attended Orange Baptist Church with his wife and their two daughters. He and his family lived on a farm on the Old Gordonsville Rd. in Orange County, where they operated the Hylton Hatchery. His descendants live on this family farm today.
