Our son, David Carrington Huff, was born June 7, 1997, and raised in Oxford, NC. He attended Kerr Vance Academy in Henderson from pre-K through high school, graduating in 2015. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church. He was kind, smart, fun-loving, had a wonderful sense of humor, and a smile that could melt your heart. He was a genuine person anchored in his faith.

David liked to spend time with his family, and he was very close to us, talking to us every day. He especially liked being with his dad in his workshop. There was always joking, laughter, and love. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandparents at the family farm. He knew how much we all loved him, and we knew he loved us.

David loved watching and playing basketball on middle school, junior, and varsity teams. He was a devoted fan of Duke Blue Devil basketball, an avid drawer, builder, and a lover of Legos. His favorite place to vacation was Walt Disney World, a truly magical place.

In 2015, he began college at Virginia Tech, where he attended the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BMC) and made lasting friendships. David was the outreach leader for his group before becoming the discipleship leader in his senior year. He grew spiritually and became a fine young man. David graduated from Virginia Tech with honors in May 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a minor in Business Leadership. In June, he began work in Fredericksburg for Branch Civil.

Also in his first year at Virginia Tech, David met the love of his life, Emily Fitch. They were planning a life together, but on March 29, 2020, God called David home at his young age of 22.

David and I are still connected to Orange Baptist Church through our extended family, Emily, the Fitch, and the Hager families.
